چکیده

During the past five years, delay-Doppler radar has become the primary technique for studying the structure of Earth-crossing asteroids. None of these objects has yet been visited by spacecraft, so ground-truth test cases are lacking. A laboratory system is described that provides optical-radar images at 0.1-mm resolution. These data are analogous to the highest-resolution asteroid radar images currently available and provided realistic test cases for developing signal-processing techniques. The system can be thought of as a 1y188,000 scale model of the Arecibo radar, or a 1y52,800 scale model of the Goldstone radar.  1995 Optical Society of America

Estimation of soil moisture using optical, thermal and radar Remote Sensing )Case Study: South of Tehran(

Traditional methods of field measurement of soil moisture in addition to the difficulty, the need for manpower and money and fail to take place on a large scale to be able to show moisture. Therefore, remote sensing has become a widespread use .Landsat 8 satellite data and Sentinel-1 radar satellite from Tehran were provided. 72 soil samples were taken at the same time by satellite passing from...

Prospects of Dynamical Determination of General Relativity Parameter β and Solar Quadrupole Moment J2⊙ with Asteroid Radar Astronomy

We evaluated the prospects of quantifying the parameterized post-Newtonian parameter β and solar quadrupole moment J2 with observations of near-Earth asteroids with large orbital precession rates (9 to 27 arcsec century). We considered existing optical and radar astrometry, as well as radar astrometry that can realistically be obtained with the Arecibo planetary radar in the next five years. O...

[1.01] Asteroids: Radar Observations and Dynamics S. J. Ostro (JPL/Caltech) Radar delay-Doppler measurements are powerful for refining asteroid orbits because they have extremely fine fractional precision and are orthogonal to optical angle astrometry. Radar detection of a newly discovered near-Earth asteroid (NEA) secures its orbit and can add centuries to the interval over which its close Ear...

Asteroid 1566 Icarus’sSize, Shape, Orbit, and Yarkovsky Drift from Radar Observations

Near-Earth asteroid (NEA) 1566 Icarus ( = a 1.08 au, e=0.83, =  i 22 .8) made a close approach to Earth in 2015 June at 22 lunar distances (LD). Its detection during the 1968 approach (16 LD) was the first in the history of asteroid radar astronomy. A subsequent approach in 1996 (40 LD) did not yield radar images. We describe analyses of our 2015 radar observations of Icarus obtained at the ...

35. Advances in Planetary Radar Astronomy

During an era when observations from spacecraft have produced the great majority of new information about the solar system, observations of solar-system bodies from the Earth, using high-powered radar systems, have produced some remarkable results. These include the discovery of condensed volatiles, most likely water ice, at the poles of Mercury; the high-resolution imaging of main-belt and nea...
